Tips To Care & Maintain Microwave
Microwaves have become an indispensable necessity. In this age where we are enslaved by technology, microwave ovens are the only things standing between a majority of us. We are dependent on microwaves to cook food, reheat, and even eat ready-made meals.
So it becomes imperative that we learn to take proper care of microwaves. They have to be protected against food splatter and incorrect handling. You know you are not taking care of your microwave when it starts to emit that rotten smell. So, here are some smart tips to take care of your microwave.
Avoid Metal
Never put any metal objects like metal containers, metal utensils or even objects with a metal trim or foil trim inside the oven. Always remember to remove the aluminum foil from food items before putting them inside the microwave. Neglecting to do so will result in damaging the oven, arcing and the creation of a fire hazard.
Flammable Objects
Never heat any flammable objects in the microwave. Combustible liquids must never be put inside a microwave oven. The result of such an act would be a fire or explosion.
Sealed Items
Never try to microwave anything that has a seal. Remove the seal of containers and utensils before putting them inside the microwave oven, as they might explode otherwise. Do not try to insert objects through the sealed door while the microwave is running.
Precautions
Always take precautions like making sure the oven door is completely closed before starting the microwave oven. After every use, the door seal, inside surfaces and oven cavity have to be checked to see if they have been sullied or spoiled in any way.
Oven Freshener
If your microwave oven is emitting a musty or bad smell, you can heat 1 cup of water with ½ cup of lemon juice in a bowl inside the microwave and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. This will leave your microwave smelling clean and fresh.
Cleaning
The inside of a microwave oven can be cleaned by placing wet paper towels inside the microwave and running it on high. This will loosen the grime on the sides of the microwave and it can be wiped off easily. Another method to clean the microwave is to put dishwashing liquid in a bowl filled with water and heat it inside the microwave. The steam from the bowl will make the grime on the microwave easily removable. The same can be done by using paper towels. Make sure you clean all the nooks and crannies thoroughly. Dishwashing liquid can be replaced with white vinegar for better results.
These are some of the smart tips with which you can take care of your microwave oven.
