This condition is mildly termed as middle insomnia. This is a condition where we move towards the lighter stages of sleep and later end up waking up in the middle of the night.

Many people are likely to experience fragmented sleep in the morning. When you wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake for more than 30 minutes per night for more than three days a week, then this could signal a serious problem.
