8 Daily Habits You Could Be Following That Can Shorten Your Life Span!
A popular American actor and fitness instructor once said, "The real pride, the real present, is your health and longevity."
Most of us can definitely agree with the above quote because fundamentally every living being is wired to aim of longevity, or a longer lifespan.
All the animals, including human beings, have a naturally built 'survival instinct', which makes us do everything we can to live a long, healthy life and enjoy its fruit!
Right from our young ages, when we learn about the concept of death, most of us develop a subconscious fear of death, even though we know that it is a part of our life and is inevitable.
What we fear the most are certain events and occurrences which can lead to untimely deaths, such as accidents, diseases, etc.
We all know that the average human life span is anywhere between 80 and 100 years, so most of us expect to live life to the fullest for as many years as possible, in good health!
Obviously, if we are suffering from ill health, be it mental or physiological, especially if it is incurable and long term, then it may decrease your will to live for a long time!
You may have witnessed many older people who are suffering from diseases not keen on living a long life, just so that they can end the pain and suffering caused by the diseases.
So, good health is the key to longevity and it is also the most important factor which will make your long life worthwhile.
Maintaining good health is not an easy feat and it comes with following certain healthy habits on a daily basis with a strong will.
Now, there are certain daily habits that we may be following which could actually shorten our life span by causing diseases or bringing about an early death.
Have a look at what they are and avoid them, if you want a long, healthy life!

Habit #1: Midnight Snacking
Have you even had nights when you felt unbearably hungry and so you raided your fridge to snack on something? If yes, then, this habit could be shortening your lifespan because consuming unhealthy foods at odd hours can wreck your metabolism and bring about a number of diseases!

Habit #2: Binge-Watching TV
If you are in the habit of binge-watching on TV shows or movies, for more than one hour, every day, then it could also be a habit which shortens your lifespan, as constantly looking at a TV screen or computer can affect your eyes, brain and your health in general, as it exhudes negative radiations. So, even though there are many nice things to watch, you must limit yourself to just an hour of TV watching every day.

Habit #3: Consuming Excess Salt
If you are someone who loves foods to have that extra tinge of salt, then you could be putting your health to risk and reducing your lifespan. Consuming foods high in salt and processed foods can cause high blood pressure, which in turn causes fatal heart diseases that could kill a person!

Habit #4: Poor Hygiene
If you are not washing your hands properly, using antibacterial soaps, after getting back home from the gym, or from the polluted streets, if you do not shower well or follow other such personal hygiene habits, then there would be a number of microbes which could get into your system and cause diseases that could lower your life span!

Habit #5: Not Flossing
A recent research study from the New York University stated that flossing your teeth on a regular basis can increase a person's life expectancy up to 6 years because flossing reduces the chances of developing gum diseases. Gum diseases are closely linked to heart ailments, due to the inter-connecting arteries, so gum diseases can also cause fatal heart diseases.

Habit #6: Unsafe Sex
People who practice unsafe sex, especially when they have multiple partners, could also be putting their lives at risk, as they have higher chances of developing incurable STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) like HIV, hepatitis, etc. So, it is very important to use protection and ensure that your partners are free from STDs!

Habit #7 : Nail Biting
Yes, although this seems like a rather harmless bad habit, nail biting can actually cause fatal diseases and reduce a person's lifespan, when done regularly. There are certain bacteria under your nails which can get into your system and cause a serious blood thinning disease known as ‘sepsis', which can lead to death!

Habit #8: Skipping Breakfast
Skipping breakfast regularly can lower your metabolic levels and your immunity, as proven by many scientific researches. When your immunity and metabolism are low, your body may not be able to fight off diseases effectively, thus making you prone to ill health and reducing your life span.
