What are breast implants? The process of inserting artificial material in the breasts through surgery in order to enhance the beauty or the shape of the breasts is known as breast implantation.

Though there are so many health risks, many people including celebrities are going for this procedure. Well, let us discuss the health risks.
Risk #1
What are the most common side effects of breast implants? They include pain in the breasts, infection, numbness in the nipples, necrosis, leakage and numbness in the area.
In some women, neck pain, joint pain, muscle pain and fatigue are also reported after the surgery.
Risk #2
Almost 35% of women who go through this procedure may need to go through another procedure within the first 2-3 years due to pain, hardening, infection or other complications.
And 25% of the women who go through this procedure generally get the implants removed due to several other health risks and complications.
Risk #3
The procedure comes with its own set of surgical risks and anesthesia risks. Also, when blood gets collected near the implant, the infection gets worse. The implant is a foreign material which your body may not accept. So, it could react.
Risk #4
If the implants break or get damaged due to any reason, another surgery may need to be done which carries the same set of surgical risks.
Risk #5
In some women, the nipples may either lose their natural sensitivity or may become hyper sensitive and painful after the procedure.
This may make them feel uncomfortable during intercourse. Saline implants are said to cause more discomfort in the bedroom.
Risk #6
When scar tissue forms around the breasts due to the foreign material, it creates a complication known as capsular contracture. This condition may cause severe pain and discomfort.
Risk #7
Some studies even claim that saline implants are prone to mold and bacterial growth! If the implant breaks due to any reason, all the toxic substances of the foreign material gets released into the body. Some studies claim that irrespective of the material used, breast implants do break some or the other day.
Risk #8
When it comes to silicone implants, in some cases, the silicone can leak and get into the lymph nodes. If the implants leak, the risk of the following conditions may increase: pulmonary fibrosis, dermatomyositis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, polymyositis, mixed connective-tissue disease, and polymyalgia.
Risk #9
Apart from all the above risks, there are some other problems. It wold become difficult to detect breast cancer in women with implants.
