Superfoods That Help Us Fight Asthma

Difficulty in breathing, with shortness of breath and chest congestion, is among the major symptoms that you might have if you have asthma.

Asthma seems to be a growing concern, as it affects people from all age groups, of which children are the most susceptible.

Ginger, along with honey and pomegranate, is an excellent source to fight asthma. All the three can be taken in equal quantities, ground to form a juice and can be consumed.


4. Garlic:

Garlic is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps reduce inflammation in the lungs and thereby prevents asthma.


5. Vitamin D-rich Foods:

People ailing with asthma have a lower level of vitamin D. Intake of vitamin D-rich foods like salmon, milk or taking a sun bath for sometime can help reduce the risk of asthma.


6. Flax Seeds:

Flax seeds are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium and fibres that help in preventing asthma. Flax seeds can be used in the form of an oil or a powder.


7. Extra Virgin Olive Oil:

The extra virgin olive oil which comes from the first pressing of the olives is anti-inflammatory and thus it helps prevent asthma and its related symptoms.


8. Fruits And Vegetables:

Consuming fruits that are rich in vitamin C helps lower the risk of asthma. Also, vegetables are rich in antioxidants like beta-carotene and vitamin E that help prevent swelling and inflammation in the lungs.
