Women apply this makeup product whole day long. It enhances the lips, makes it looks juicy, shiny and fuller but, lipsticks are dangerous for your health. It has various chemicals that can be harmful for the skin and body. Can't believe it? Find out how lipsticks are risky for the health.

Do Lipsticks Pose A Health Risk?

Health hazards of applying lipstick:

Lipstick has lead: Most of the branded lipsticks have lead in it. Actually, lead is not directly added as an ingredient while making a lipstick. The colourant used to make lipstick has lead and this is dangerous. Lead is a very poisonous metal that can damage the body. If a woman applies lipstick, it gets absorbed by the skin of the lips and enter the bloodstream. The more she retouches, the more lead enters the body.

Lead is a neurotoxin that affects the nerve system. Excess lead in body can cause behavioural and brain problems, lower IQ levels, cause hormonal imbalance and in worst cases, leads to miscarriage and infertility.

So, if you love to apply lipstick, think twice before picking up your favourite shade. Only opt for lipsticks that has no lead and is made naturally.

Lipsticks contain petrochemicals: Apart from having lead, many lipstick manufacturers use other dangerous petrochemicals that are poisonous for the body. Many lipsticks have:

Bismuth oxychloride: A carcinogen that is used in mineral makeup products like compact, powder and lipsticks. Bismuth oxychloride causes skin irritation, itching, rashes and inflammation.

Parabens: The commonly used makeup chemical has many side effects. Parabens enhances the cosmetic product but leads to premature ageing.

Mineral oil: Many lipsticks have mineral oil that blocks skin pores. If skin pores get blocked, the lips will look dry and chapped. Even other cosmetic products having mineral oil can lead to pimple breakouts.

These are few side effects of applying lipstick. To avoid facing side effects of this cosmetic product, go for lipsticks that have natural ingredients like bee-wax, aloe vera extract, castor oil, cocoa butter, glycerin etc to protect your lips from danger
