Sandwich: Processed cheese, refined bread and butter increases the calorie intake. They are high in sodium and are fat-laden breakfast. If you still prefer having sandwich as it is made in minutes, then make a sandwich at home with whole grain bread, low fat cheese or butter and add freshly cut vegetables instead of meat. This is a fiber filled healthy breakfast.
Cereals: These are quick and easy breakfast food. Frosted cereals contains high level of sugar which if consumed on a regular basis increases the body weight. Refined sugar elevates insulin level of the body and robs off vitamins and minerals. Insulin level fluctuation makes you feel tired, inactive. Constant mood swings and headaches are common due to insulin level elevations. If you prefer sweet cereals, add fresh natural sweet fruits like bananas or fruit yogurt to balance the sweetness.
Muffins: Muffins are considered as light and nutritious breakfast food. If observed closely, muffins are sweet filled with calories. Sugar, butter or margarine and flour in muffins make it similar to a butter cake.
Fruit juice: A glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice is always found on the breakfast table but did you know that it is not healthy. This is because, the fructose in fruit juice is absorbed in the blood which increases insulin level. Even if you don't add sugar to the juice, having a fruit juice empty stomach is unhealthy breakfast idea. Replace juice with freshly cut fruits. Fruits slows down the absorption of natural sugars in the body.
Doughnuts: This breakfast food is high in sugar, trans-fat, refined flour and calories which make doughnuts not only heavy on the shape of the body but also on the energy levels. Opt for whole-grain bread with jam or peanut butter for breakfast instead of doughnut.
Unhealthy breakfast food spoils the health and reduces energy levels of the body. So, get a healthy breakfast idea and stay active with high energy levels.
