Coconut Oil For The Treatment Of Yeast Infections
Coconut oil is a transparent, almost colourless fatty oil extracted from coconuts. It is a very popular oil used in the treatment of skin and hair problems. Hence, it has become an essential ingredient of many beauty products.
Yeast infection is a condition where there is an inflammation of the vagina. This results in itchiness, discharge and irritation. It is caused by Candida yeast cells. These surface in large numbers when there is an immunity system imbalance or hormonal imbalance.

Coconut oil contains caprylic acid that kills the yeast and also stops its growth. Most of the treatments for yeast infection are caprylic acid based. Coconut oil can either be applied locally or taken internally to treat yeast infection.

To treat yeast infection, one must consume three to five tablespoons of coconut oil on a daily basis. Here are a couple of ways in which you can incorporate it in your diet:
- Use coconut oil for cooking
- Substitute coconut oil for butter or margarine on toast
- Add coconut oil to your smoothies
- Add coconut oil to oatmeal
- Take a teaspoonful of coconut oil before each meal

Coconut oil can be applied locally as a treatment for yeast infection in the following ways:
- Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly and apply a thin layer of coconut oil to the area. Repeat the application two to three times a day till the infection is cured.
- Mix equal quantities of coconut oil and cinnamon oil and apply to the affected area. Repeat regularly till the infection is gone.
- Mix a few drops of garlic oil with vitamin E and add these to coconut oil. Apply this to the affected area. Keep applying regularly till the infection is cured.

- Yeast infection can also be cured by washing or douching the area regularly with coconut oil. Mix three to four tablespoons of coconut oil with two quarts of warm distilled water. Douche with this solution. Repeat daily till the infection is cured.
- You can also use an unbleached tampon dipped in coconut oil and leave it in the vagina overnight.
Use coconut oil in the above-mentioned ways, and you are sure to rid yourself of yeast infection.
