Can A Heart Attack Be Predicted?
Heart attacks are the sole reason for the innumerable deaths that take place every second of the day in a year. Recent statistics have shown that there are around 300 people who die of a heart attack in every 5 minutes in a day, and the reason being an improper diet and following a list of certain nasty bad habits.
Did you know that this number can be decreased if you take proper care of your health?
Well, it is also believed that one can predict a heart attack well in advance and this predication is done by testing the strands of hair on your head. Are you shocked? Well, recent studies claim that your hair health can actually predict a heart attack well in advance, giving you enough time to rush to the hospital to get yourself treated before you lose your life.
To predict a heart attack, the testing of a sample of your hair strand can be done on a yearly basis. This test is done to determine the stress hormone cortisol, which is the sole cause for heart attacks.
What
is
a
heart
attack?
A
heart
attack,
or
in
medical
terms
a
cardial
infarction,
occurs
when
the
heart
muscles
are
suddenly
deprived
of
oxygen-rich
blood.
Heart
attacks
are
often
accompanied
with
chest
pain,
excessive
sweating,
shortness
of
breath,
discomfort
in
the
arms,
back,
shoulders
or
the
jaw.
One
can
also
experience
light-headedness
or
dizziness,
cold
sweat,
nausea
and
fatigue.
How
to
predict
a
heart
attack
with
hair?
The
hormone
cortisol
is
usually
secreted
during
times
of
high
stress.
The
hormone
is
found
and
can
be
measured
in
the
blood,
urine,
and
in
the
hair.
According
to
scientists,
the
hair
on
our
head
grows
slowly,
which
is
on
an
average
one
centimeter
per
month
for
a
normal
human
being.
Therefore, for a six-centimetre-long hair, a sample of it can actually show the amount of cortisol levels over a six month time period. If the hormone is richly present in the hair, this is a clear indication that the person is at a risk of a heart attack.
However, though this is a promising test, there is no clear sign that this is an assurance of predicting a heart attack at the earliest. On the other hand, it is stated that if the hormone level is very high, one can find ways to de-stress, so that you can keep other health issues at bay, apart from a heart attack.
