Do Non Alcoholics Have Liver Problems?
It is very common practice to associate liver problems with alcoholism. We have been told time and again that consumption of alcohol leads to serious diseases like fatty liver or cirrhosis of liver. So, is the converse of this statement also true? Do non alcoholics have no liver ailments at all? Unfortunately, it is not so.
Non alcoholics can have liver diseases just as much as alcoholics. When you drink alcohol, you are prone to damaging your liver. However, your alcohol is not the only thing that damages your liver.
Here are some of the reasons why non alcoholics might also have liver problems.

Oily Food: Too much of oil and fats are not good for your liver. The extra fat that is not synthesised is deposited on the liver. This leads to the disorder that is called fatty liver syndrome. The symptoms of this liver problem is indigestion, nausea and vomiting.
Spicy Food: When you have jaundice, you are asked to stop having spicy food altogether. Too much of spices too can trouble your liver.
Infection: An enlarged liver is often the result of an infection. If you have a stomach infection due to unhygienic food, it might travel to your liver. Your live may also be affected directly by the infection. Either ways, infection and enlargement of liver can happen even to non alcoholics.
Impure Water: Polluted water is one of the major reasons for liver diseases like jaundice. If you have impure fluids like unhealthy or unhygienic juices or water, it affects your liver and increases the bilirubin count of the blood.
Liver Cancer: The liver is a very highly regenerative organ. That is why many cases of liver cancer are curable. But you can develop liver cancer even if you do not drink. It is hereditary to a certain extent.
Scarred Liver: If there is too much fat on your liver, it can end up scarring the liver tissues. This finally leads to cirrhosis of liver. Obese people are prone to this kind of liver damage.
Hepatitis: Hepatitis is a kind of virus that infects the liver and can even cause death. The worst part is that it is a communicable disease. You can take vaccination against hepatitis because it can even be fatal.
These are some of the common liver problems that non alcoholics can also face. If you already have liver problems, avoid drinking alcohol to the fullest.
