Myths About Weight Loss
Most of us still believe in some myths about weight loss. As the society around us is totally obsessed with weight loss, we tend to pursue weight loss goals very seriously. There is nothing wrong in trying to be healthy and fit. In fact it is good to maintain a healthy weight. But the problem arises when we live in illusions.
The Perfect Energy Boosting Breakfast
Firstly, most of us don't know that the body has something called as 'starvation mode'. If you don't provide enough food thinking that you can burn the fat, you are mistaken. Your body may consider that you are not going to get food and it begins to store everything you consume in the form of fat in order to keep you alive. Such facts must be understood so that you won't commit the mistake of starving yourself again. Also, weight loss depends upon so many factors and it is better to work on all of them patiently instead of rushing.
Starving
Some people think that starvation helps. This is a myth. In fact, starvation could be dangerous. Firstly, it will drastically increase your carvings and make you eat more when you come across food. If you control yourself and continue to starve it may lead to other disorders. Overall, starving yourself is not going to help you.
Buying Weight Loss Programs
There are some people who are interested in the weight loss programs that they come across through the advertisements. Embracing them is not the end of the story. There is a lot more to weight loss than these programs.
Pills
This is another one of the common myths about weight loss. Some people think that consuming weight loss pills is enough to shed weight. This is far from truth. The market is filled with false promises and pills that never work. Even if some of them work, consuming them without consulting a doctor could be dangerous.
Exercise
Another myth is: doing some or the other exercise is enough to lose weight. In fact weight loss depends upon so many factors out of which, exercise is just only one. You need to address other factors like food and metabolism too.
Skipping A Meal
If skipping your breakfast or lunch is the only thing you are planning to do, it isn't a healthy option to lose weight. In fact, you will be more hungry and may end up eating more for dinner if you skip meals. Also, your body may start storing more fat thinking that you are going to starve. Knowing about the facts and myths about weight loss could be helpful.
Calories
Just by consuming fewer calories, weight loss may not be possible. It may help you lose some weight but there are other factors that come into play. Your genetics, your metabolism and the amount of physical activity are some of those factors.
Quitting Snacks
If you are quitting your intake of snacks and expecting weight loss miracle to happen then you are mistaken. Of course, reducing your intake of snacks may be good; but the results depend upon certain other factors like your overall calorie consumption and expenditure.
Excluding Carbs
It is important to know about the dangers of rapid weight loss. Eating a protein rich diet is good but ignoring carbs would be a very big mistake. Though weight loss aspirants do this, it isn't very good for health.
