Ideal Protein Diet For Healthy Weight Loss

Protein Diet
All diets don't starve you. What if you could eat some of your favourite dishes and still lose weight. An ideal protein diet can help you do just that. It is in other words a healthy diet for weight loss that will not make you swoon on an empty stomach. Proteins are famously called the building blocks of our body because they form the muscles but the other important function of proteins is also to supplement energy. Yes, protein molecules too can break into energy if need be. So an all protein diet will not make you unduly tired unless you have a special medical condition.

Here are some basic high points that have to be understood for an ideal protein diet.

Salient Features Of An Ideal Protein Diet:

  • What is the body's fuel for working? Energy that comes from burning sugars. From where do these sugars come; from the fats and carbohydrates that you eat. That is why they say that carbohydrates are a source of instant energy.
  • The point here is that why does energy have to be 'instant'? If you can channelise whatever energy is produced in your body in the right way then you will never be tired. What happens when you eat carbohydrates or fats is that they get burned and produce energy instantly.
  • If the carbohydrate content of your healthy weight loss diet is minimal then the body has to work hard to produce this energy for which it turns to the stored fat in your body. The process is technically called 'ketosis' and is very helpful in losing diet.
  • An all protein diet will put you on a variety of proteins mixing both animal and vegetable protein. If you are purely vegetarian or prefer only meat then this diet is not ideal for you. It is not an invitation to eat just that one thing you like.
  • Have milk and cheese for calcium, meat for phosphorus and a wide variety of legumes for roughage so that you don't get constipated. Leafy vegetables are not strictly speaking proteins but they are not fattening either. Pulses can replace the carbohydrate content of cereals. Have a variety of dals and dry beans like red kidney beans.
  • You must have variety in the proteins that you consume because although an ideal protein diet will make you lose weight it may drain vitamins and minerals from your body; lets face it, it not a 'wholesome' diet that covers all your nutritional needs.
  • Moreover, you cannot be on this diet for weight loss even if its healthy, forever. If you persist with it for more time that your dietician has advised then it can cause serious health problems like kidney dysfunction, osteoporosis at an later stage and cancer, if you are not eating the right kind of meat.

Follow these good health tips even when you are on an ideal protein diet.
