Paneer Handi Recipe: A Flavourful Treat
If you are an Indian and a vegetarian, the restaurant menus do not leave you with much choice except paneer recipes. Paneer like chicken can be cooked in many different ways to keep your food interesting. You can cook paneer with almost any ingredient of your choice. Paneer Handi recipe is not only easy and delicious but a notch different from other delicacies of its type.
So if you are getting bored of the numerous paneer recipes you have already tried, then you can certainly try the special paneer handi recipe we are trying here today. Paneer handi is recipe that is cooked with all the common spices used in an Indian curry. The only difference is that this dish gets its flavour from the earthen pot or 'handi' in which it is cooked.
It is very easy to try the paneer handi recipe. All you need is a suitable earthen pot or handi. The rest of the ingredients required for this Indian curry are sure to be present in any average Indian kitchen.

Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
- Paneer- 200 grams (cut into cubes)
- Onions- 2 (sliced)
- Ginger garlic paste- 1tbsp
- Tomatoes- 2 (chopped)
- Curd- 1 cup
- Green chillies- 4 (chopped)
- Red chilli powder- ½ tsp
- Garam masala- 1tsp
- Bay Leaf- 1
- Dry red chillies- 2
- Coriander leaves- 2 stalks (chopped)
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
- Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan. When it heats up, add the paneer pieces to the pan and saute for 1-2 minutes on a low flame.
- Strain the paneer pieces and keep them aside.
- Now season the oil with dry red chillies and bay leaf.
- After 30 seconds, add onions and saute for 3-4 minutes of low flame.
- Then add ginger-garlic paste and cook on a low flame for another two minutes.
- Add tomatoes, sprinkle salt, red chilli powder and garam masala powder from the top.
- Cook on a low flame for 5-6 minutes.
- When the tomatoes melt, transfer the curry to a handi and heat it on low flame.
- Add curd and mix the gravy well. Pour the paneer pieces into the handi.
- Cover and cook on a low flame for 7-8 minutes.
- In the end, add coriander leaves for garnishing.
Serve Paneer Handi with tandoori roties or pulao.
