Cucumber Chana Dal Recipe For Diabetics
Diabetes is one of the most prevalent disease in today's world. More than half of the population suffers from diabetes which is definitely a matter of concern for all of us. So, today being World Diabetes Day, Boldsky brings to you a special recipe for diabetics. Being a diabetic recipe, it does not mean its a boring and tasteless recipe. The dish is a perfect one for both diabetics and non-diabetics.
Cucumber chana dal is a simple and healthy recipe. The Bengal gram is a nutritious lentil and when combined with cucumber it tastes heavenly. The combination though sounds a bit strange. But the dish is filled with a unique flavour of cucumber which makes it simply hard to resist.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Chana dal- 1 cup
- Cucumber- 1 (finely chopped)
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Ginger paste- 1tsp
- Green chillies- 2 (finely chopped)
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Chilli powder- ½ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 1tbsp
- Water- 3 cups
- Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (finely chopped)
Procedure
- Wash the chana dal thoroughly with water.
- Pressure cook the chana dal with salt, turmeric powder and water on medium flame. Wait for 3 whistles to blow.
- Once the dal is cooked, remove the pressure cooker from the flame and keep it aside.
- Now heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
- Once the seeds starts to splutter, add the cooked dal, ginger paste, green chillies, chilli powder and cook for 3-4 minutes on medium flame.
- Add the chopped cucumber and salt to the pan. Simmer for 10 minutes on a low flame.
- Once its done, switch off the flame and garnish the dal with chopped coriander leaves.
