Easy Onion Sambar For Idlis

Idlis taste very boring without the sambar. The hot idlis dipped in spicy sambar and melted ghee can impress anyone and make their day. Here is the easy recipe
Easy Indian Recipe
Onion Sambar Ingredients:
- 2 tsps coriander seeds
- 4 tsps urad dal
- 2 red chillies (dry)
- ' cup dry coconut (grated)
- ¼ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp oil
- ¼ kg baby onions (peeled)
- 1 tomato (chopped)
- Coriander (chopped)
- Salt according to taste
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp ghee
Onion Sambar Preparation:
1. In a pan, add ' tsp oil and fry urad dal (until golden brown), coriander seeds, cumins, red chillies and grated coconut. Leave aside to cool.
2. In a vessel, add a glass of water, tomatoes, onions and salt (you can add some chilli powder if you want the sambar spicy). Cook the vegetables on simmer for 5-10 minutes.
3. Grind the fried ingredients into think paste and add to the boiling mixture. Stir the sambar well until you get the aroma of the masalas. Turn off the stove.
4. Now, add the remaining oil and fry mustard seeds. Garnish the hot sambar with fried mustard seeds. Serve the spicy onion sambar with ghee and steamed idlis.
