Irish Soda Bread Recipe - Patrick's Day Traditional Recipe

Ingredients :

1. 3 1/2 cups flour

2. 1 1/2 tsp sugar

3. 3/4 tsp salt

4. 1/2 tsp baking soda

5. 3 tsp butter

6. 1/2 cup raisins

7. Pinch Of cardamom powder

8. 1 egg, lightly beaten

9. 1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Irish Soda Bread Preparation:

1 Preheat oven to 425° F.

2.Combine flour, sugar, salt, cardamom and baking soda in a bowl and whisk well.

3. Then add butter and mix well until it attains coarse meal texture. Add raises and mix well.

4. Add beaten egg and buttermilk and knead well until it is soft dough.

5. Transfer the dough into a greased pan and shape the dough into a round loaf.

6. Bake it for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Tasty Irish soda bread is ready to serve.

Apart from raisins, caraway seeds, dried cranberries can also be an ingredient to the soda bread.
