Green Gram Muruku Recipe – Karthigai Deepam Recipe

There are many delicacies prepared during the 3 days of the festival. The Karthigai deepam recipes are exclusive recipes prepared only during the festive occasion. Crispy crunchy Murukus and crackers is a perfect blend for the great day. Green gram Muruku or chakkuli is a karthigai deepam recipe usually prepared from urad dal and rice flour. Our recipe is a special pick for the festival as we have an added ingredient, the green gram dal that helps in absorbing very little oil when fried. Murukus can be preserved for many days. Green Gram Muruku Recipe - Karthigai Deepam Recipe
Ingredients
1.1/2 cup - Green gram dal
2.1/2 cup - Fried gram dal
3.3 cups - Rice flour
4.2 tsp - Butter or hot oil
5.2 tsp - Chilli powder
6.A pinch of Asafoetida
7.Salt to taste
8.Oil for deep frying
Preparation time: Half an hour
Cooking time: 25 minutes

Method
1. Fry green gram dal till golden brown and make a fine powder of it with fried gram dal.
2. Mix the prepared mixture with rice flour, salt, asafoetida and chilli powder.
3. Now add heated oil or butter to this flour and mix them fine. Add required quantity of water and make a soft dough.
4. Take a ball of dough and put into the Muruku presser and press them and deep fry till golden brown.
5. Preserve it in an air-tight container. Tasty golden green gram muruku recipe is ready to serve.
