Egg Sponge: World Egg Day Spcl
Sponge recipes are very popular as they are very soft, tender and juicy. Hence the sponge recipes are liked by all. Egg sponge is one of the yummy egg recipes that one would love to savour. The best part of this dish is the fact that it can be very easily made. Egg sponge is also a very low calorie recipe. You do not need much oil for this sponge recipe.
This egg sponge recipe is just ideal forthe eggatarians. As this is a low calorie recipe, it can even be had by dieters. Trust me you shall not put on any extra weight for this . Egg sponge is best made in a pressure cooker or any other steaming machine. This egg recipe needs a fine steaming. You can make egg sponge either in a gravy or dry form. But here we will make a dry preparation of this non vegetarian recipe.

Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Ingredients
- Eggs- 4-5
- Onions- 3-4 medium sized (finely chopped)
- Green Chillies- 2 (finely chopped)
- Capsicum- ½ (finely chopped)
- Baking Powder- 1 pinch
- Salt- To taste
- Butter- 2tbsp
Procedure
- Break the eggs in a medium sized bowl and the add chopped onions, green chillies, capsicum, baking powder and some salt to it. Mix well and then pour it into the bowl. Place the bowl that into the pressure cooker and smear the sides with some butter.
- Put some water in the cooker and see that it does not cross the level of the bowl. Do not completely close the lid of the pressure cooker.
- Steam for 10-15 minutes and then check. If you find that the eggs are already steamed and have become fluffy then take it out of the cooker.
- Place it on a plate and then cut it in the size of small cup cakes.
- This egg recipe is now ready to be served.
Wrap the sides with butter paper and then serve the egg sponge.
