Crisp & Spicy Chicken Puff Recipe

Chicken puff is one of the best accompaniments with your evening coffee. Specially in this festive season, a good recipe for chicken puff can make your evenings delicious. As new year is approaching and it is the season for baked chicken recipes, it makes sense to learn how to make crisp and spicy chicken puffs.

The basic premise of this chicken puff recipe is dough stuffed with cooked chicken. It is an appetizer recipe that is delicious, traditional but not too complicated. This baked chicken recipe has to baked for just about 20 minutes so it is not very time consuming. To make the filling of this chicken puff recipe you can use a number of methods; we have used an oriental one for it.

Ingredients For chicken Puff:

1. Chicken boneless-200 grams (shredded)
2. Green bell peppers or capsicum-1 (shredded)
3. Onions-1 (chopped finely)
4. Ginger garlic paste-1 tablespoon
5. Ground pepper-1 tablespoon
6. Green chillies-4 (minced)
7. Mayonnaise-1 tablespoon
8. Parsley or coriander leaves-1 tablespoon (chopped)
9. Basil leaves-4-5 (chopped)
10. Flour-2 cups
11. Egg white-1
12. Baking soda-1 teaspoon
13. Butter-50 grams
14. Oil-2 tablespoons
15. Salt as per taste

Procedure For chicken Puff:

  • Boil chicken and shred it with your fingers. It does not have to even throughout. Meanwhile knead a dough with flour, salt, baking soda and water; keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a shallow pan and saute the onions in it for 3-4 minutes until it turns golden. Then add the ginger garlic paste and cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
  • Add the shredded bell pepper and cook for 3-4 minutes. Then add the boiled chicken to this and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the spices, salt and the mayonnaise and cook for another 5 minutes on low flame. You can add a few spoonfuls of chicken stock (the water you have boiled the chicken in) if it gets too dry.
  • Preheat the microwave oven to 350 degrees. Now make triangles out of the dough you have prepared and roll it out; keep it thick.
  • Let the stuffing cool a little and then put a few spoonfuls in the middle of the triangle. Don't put too much or else it is burst.
  • Place another triangle on it to cover it and seal the edges by pressing it. Coat it with the beaten egg white and brush molten butter on it.
  • Place it in an oven tray and bake for 20 minutes. Stop around mid way and turn sides.

Serve hot chicken puffs with coffee or tea.
