Cannes 2014: Marion Cotillard Stuns In Dior
Cannes Film Festival 2014 has given us many fashion surprises so far. Every time we made a prediction about some celebrity who will definitely wear something, we have fallen flat on our face. However, even fashion commentators like to be proven wrong sometimes as long as celebrities keep surprising us with some fresh choices. Marion Cotillard's Cannes 2014 wardrobe has given quite a few surprises. However, we were yet to see her stun us with a predictable but gorgeous dress.
MARION COTILLARD IN 'BEST OUT OF WASTE' DRESS
As we all know, Marion Cotillard is the brand ambassador for Dior. Therefore, she is expected to wear Dior at most red carpet events. Now a red carpet event rarely gets bigger than Cannes Film Festival 2014. However, for her first appearance on Cannes 2014 red carpet, Marion Cotillard did not wear Dior. She chose to wear a 'best out of waste' dress from Maison Martin Margiela. She did go on to wear Dior for the premiere of her movie ‘Two days, One Night'. However, it was a predictable Dior ‘tent' dress that neither surprised nor impressed us.

But last night, the French beauty was all set to impress us with a Dior dress that we would have not typically bookmarked for her. Marion Cotillard wore a strapless ankle length dress that was pleated from top to toe. The structured dress was braised at the waist and blossomed beautifully into a stunning outfit. The slate grey colour of the dress did not quite agree with us as we would have preferred to see Marion Cotillard in something brighter. However, we are getting used to actresses and their sombre colour choices this year. It is the blacks, greys and ash colours they are picking from all designer collections.
Much more stunning than the Dior dress were Marion Cotillard's Christian Louboutin high heel pumps. The shimmering gold ‘Iriza' pumps added some much needed colour to the asymmetrical layers of her dress. Marion completed look with a ‘oh-so-French' bouffant that ended in a simple side braid. No matter what she does, there is always something typically French about Marion Cotillard's look and we love that. And this 60s inspired hairstyle is just totally fresh with this contemporary dress. Marion Cortillard's look was accessorized by nothing save a silver bangle. So Marion showed us that she can pick something ‘out of the tent' even when she is wearing Dior.
