Jewellery Trends Seen At Cannes 2013
According to the reports, there was not one but 2 jewellery thefts at Cannes 2013. Among all the glitter and shine of diamond jewellery at Cannes, you can hardly blame the robbers for getting tempted! Many jewellery brands showcase their creations by loaning them to celebrities who walk the red carpet. Chopard is one of the leading brands that sponsors jewellery at Cannes and also holds grand parties for the celebrities.
The first jewellery theft at Cannes involved disappearance of Chopard jewels. The second theft is supposed to have affected De Grisogono, a Swiss jewellery brand. While our heart goes out to the jewellery brands who have lost a sizable sum of money, we cannot help but admire the jewellery trends at Cannes 2013 first. At Cannes this year, jewellery has been innovative and inspiring.
Celebrities walked the red carpet with some really fresh jewellery designs that are bound to become trends for the next season. For example, the nose ring is a jewellery trend at Cannes started by the Bollywood camp. Then we have the trend of wearing back jewellery that has been carried forward from Oscars 2013.
Here are some of the best jewellery trends from Cannes 2013.

Diamond n Emerald Necklace
Sharon Stone wore an elaborate layered diamond necklace with a string of emeralds right in the middle. This contrast of white and green gave the necklace a very stark brilliance.

Beaded Necklace
Vidya Balan has steered away from wearing very traditional gold jewellery at Cannes. She instead opted for beaded necklaces like these that matched with her sarees.

Nose Ring
First Sonam Kapoor and then Vidya Balan, the Indian nathni is a phenomenon now. Sonam Kapoor wore a diamond studded nose ring from Sunita Kapoor's collection and started this trend.

Choker
Cara Delevingne looked stunning as she paired her black lace gown with this sparkling diamond choker from Chopard.

Serpent Necklace
The serpent or snake has always been an interesting motif for jewellery. Jessica Biel re-invented this motif by wearing this classy serpent necklace.

Back Jewellery
After the neck, it is the serpent's turn to adorn the back. Back jewellery has been in fashion since Oscars 2013 where Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence wore their neck pieces backwards. Here Sharon Stone goes a step forward by wearing a chained serpent on her back.

Sapphire Pendant
This brilliant sapphire pendant is from the exclusive Elizabeth Taylor collection. Jessica Chastain must have spent a fortune on this one.

Loop Earrings
Most of Chopard earrings we saw at Cannes were long earrings. But these diamond studded hoops from Chopard made Marion Cortillard stand apart.

Diamond Necklace With Amethyst Heart
This sculpted diamond necklace from Chopard is just as beautiful as Jane Fonda's sleek neck. At the centre of the necklace, there is huge drop that holds an uncut amethyst.

Princess Necklace
Sonam Kapoor looks stunning in this princess style diamond necklace from Chopard. The diamonds contrast sharply with the black lace lehenga.
