Now, when you know why honey is so beneficial for dry skin, the obvious question is, how to use honey on the skin?
Well, there are many ways of using honey on skin, other than the usual direct application. But to determine how to apply honey on skin, it is important to know exactly what your skin problem is. We present to you five common dry skin-related problems and how they can be healed applying honey.
A Honey Bath
What can be more calming, soothing and relieving than a good nourishing bath? Even after spending hours in the bathroom, those with dry skin are often not happy, as their skin continues to be parched and moisture deprived. Here the remedy is a honey bath.
For a honey bath, in a bucket or tub of lukewarm water, mix two small cups of raw honey and up to three tablespoons of baking soda. Ensure that the honey and baking soda is well dissolved in the warm water and then, take a relaxing bath in this.
Honey For Scars
On dry skin, simple pimple or a boil can leave an irritating scar. You might have scratched the skin eruption and this might be the result. Here, the remedy is, to prepare a skin reliever mixing raw honey with jojoba oil. If you don't have jojoba oil, you can use coconut oil. However, when applying on the skin, ensure that the area is clean and you gently coat the area in a circular motion. This gets dried off easily and then, you can wash the area with water.
Acne Treatment
One of the common dry skin problems is acne and honey is a magic remedy for acne, only if you know how to apply it. To treat your acne with honey, first ensure that the area is clean and dry. Now, dab raw honey on a cotton pad. The amount of honey depends on the vastness of your acne. Press the cotton pad on the acne and hold this for 15 minutes. Let the acne completely suck in the honey. Wash off, at the end, to get rid of the sticky feeling.
Makeup Remover
Irrespective of your skin type, how about using a natural homemade makeup remover? You can now prepare a makeup remover at home with honey as a key ingredient. You have to mix honey with jojoba/coconut oil to a thick consistency. To this, add a pinch of cinnamon, turmeric and nutmeg. Do not try storing this honey-based makeup remover beyond seven days.
Skin Facial mask
Of course, facial is important on dry skin and you can do it using honey and aloe vera gel. With one tablespoon of raw honey, mix the same amount of aloe vera gel and your dry skin special facial mask is ready. For extra benefits, to this, you can add a few drops of rose water.
