Nails and the skin around the nails are the least pampered parts of the body and hence they start to suffer soon. These minor parts of the body often remain unnoticed, untouched, until it emerges out as something huge or dangerous.
Dry skin around the nails and cuticles can be painful during winter days, as the skin tends to peel out, which may also lead to unusual bleeding. Here's how to take care of cuticles with these tips for dry skin around nails and cuticles.
1. Coconut Oil
You should massage your skin with coconut oil as much as you can, as it not only helps to moisturise your skin but also helps to keep the skin around nails healthy. You should massage your nails as well as the skin around the nail with the help of coconut oil, as it can maintain it soft. Due to antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, coconut oil avoids the skin from peeling off and avoids bleeding as well. Massaging with warm coconut oil is always a bonus point to be considered.
2. Warm Water Therapy
Following the warm water therapy can help to treat the dry skin around the nails easily. Take some warm water in a bowl and soak your nails for 10-15 minutes. Make sure the dry skin around the nail is soaked in the warm water as well. Soaking fingers in warm water helps to wash out the dry skin easily and also promotes new skin. Avoid filing the soft skin, as it may lead to bleeding.
3. Moisturiser
Just like your body, you should always be using moisturiser on the skin around the nails as well and that's how to take care of skin around nails. Due to excessive humidity in the air, the skin around the nails tends to grow dry quickly. In order to maintain it healthy and good, use a mosituriser and massage every day for 10 minutes. One important thing you should remember is to use a non-comedogenic moisturiser, as it may reverse the effects and end up giving you more dry skin.
4. Vitamin B Foods
Including Vitamin B in your diet helps to give you soft, healthy and moisturised skin. According to experts, you should include foods that contain a high amount of Vitamin B in them. Due to deficiency or lack of Vitamin B in the body, the skin tends to grow dry, flaky and some of them undergo inflammation and itching on the skin as well. You should include more of brown rice, vegetables, wheat germ oil, etc., in your diet.
5. Do Not Bite Or Scratch Your Fingers
You should avoid biting or scratching your fingers frequently. Chewing or pulling out the soft skin from the nails can lead to bleeding and create deep wounds around the nails. If at all you feel that the skin can get pulled off accidentally, secure it with the help of a bandage, so that it avoids getting out.
6. Use Cuticle Oil
To end the list on how to take care of dry skin around nails, you should use cuticle oil at least twice in a week to ensure that your nails, as well as the skin around the nails, are good and healthy. All you need to do is take come cuticle oil and massage to the cuticles for 10 minutes every alternate day. Cuticle oil generally contains essentials vitamins and proteins which help to rejuvenate the tissues and further help in the production of collagen easily. Using cuticle oil helps to heal the skin quickly.
