Tips To Save Your Colour-Damaged Hair
Colouring your streaks is a never fading trend. We all do it at some point of time. Generally, it is a symbol of you being cool. But, a little do we understand the amount of stress that our hair undergoes during this process.
Fragile, weak and dry hair are just few of the signs that can be seen after hair colouring. In this article, we are here to share some of the ways to keep the coloured hair from drying out.
Drastic bleaching and dyeing of the hair may mean some serious chemical changes to every cell of your hair. These changes can be seen on the hair with the various signs of brittle, haystack and dried hair.
You need to take a little extra care of your hair when it is coloured. If not then there is no point in complaining about the horse mane you would be flaunting! So, here we bring to you some of the unique tips to save your colour-damaged hair. Read on to know more.
Wash Your Hair Twice Or Thrice In A Week
Washing your hair every day is a BIG mistake that you might be committing. Even if you are a cleanliness freak spare your hair. The natural oils, our hair follicles release, keep our hair healthy and protect it from external damage. Washing it on a daily basis can strip these natural oils from the scalp and make it harsh.
Invest In Some Dry Shampoo
If you are not happy with not washing your hair on a daily basis then using a dry shampoo is the best solution. It helps to reduce the oil build-up on your scalp and gives you an amazing texture and adds more volume to your hair as well. Just dab some dry shampoo on your scalp and brush it after a minute or two. Brush it out and see your hair volume go up instantly.
Gently Towel Dry Before Conditioning
This is the most common mistake we all do. Do not apply conditioner in the hair that is completely wet. This does not let the conditioner work. Instead, towel dry your hair and then apply a conditioner on your hair for best results.
Avoid Hot Water
Use cold or lukewarm water to wash your hair. This stops the hair from thinning and avoids breakage of the hair. Dry hair is the first problem of using hot water. Remember that healthy, beautiful and shiny hair can happen in a shower. So, be kind to your gentle hair and pamper them with a good conditioner.
Use Leave-in Conditioners
For coloured hair, the best option to chose a conditioner would be by using a leave-in conditioner, as it helps to lock the moisture and oils in the hair. This does not let the hair become dry. Use some conditioner and let it stay on your hair for at least 5 minutes before washing it off. This gives your hair the extra sheen and moisture.
Brush Your Hair Twice In A Day
Studies reveal that healthy hair needs regular brushing, preferably once in the morning and the other before going to bed. This step helps in maintaining shiny, healthy and untangled hair.
Do Not Use Clarified Shampoo
Avoid using clarified shampoo after dyeing your hair, as it can rob the oil from your hair. The high-detergent property of clarified shampoo is just not perfect for coloured hair. These shampoos may remove hairspray resins, silicons and other waxes of your hair shaft. Thus, making your hair dry and brittle.
