By Kumutha

We are sucker for coffee, as it keeps us on our feet, awake, when gravity threatens to pull our eyelids down! And, more importantly, it keeps our brain functioning! What if we say, it can do the same for your skin as well? That's right, DIY coffee body scrubs can energize and awaken your tired skin.

From blasting out cellulite from your skin, kissing away the stretch marks to smoothening the rough texture, coffee ground is your skin's best friend!

COFFEE SCRUB

Coffee, in all its forms, should be a part of your skin care regimen, and here are some solid reasons why.

Coffee grounds pack a powerful punch of antioxidants, which means "buh-bye" signs of ageing, protection against skin-damaging free radicals and "hello" new skin cells!

To top it off, coffee has a high ratio of tannins, which lighten the cellulite, tighten skin and boost the collagen level of the skin.

The best thing about coffee ground is its rough granules that slough off the dead skin cells, without irritating the skin or stripping it off the natural oils.

So, without further ado, here are homemade coffee scrub recipes that guarantee a silky smooth skin!

Cellulite Scrub

brown sugar

Mix 1 cup of grounded coffee, with ½ a cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of olive oil. Mix until all the ingredients blend well. Apply it to your wet skin. Exfoliate in a circular motion for 10 minutes and then rinse it clean. Use this coffee scrub for skin tightening once a week.

Stretch Mark Scrub

coconut oil

Take ½ a cup of grounded coffee, 1 cup of coconut oil, a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and 1 teaspoon of honey. Using a fork, mix all the ingredients together, until you get a gritty paste. Store the coffee scrub for stretch marks in an air-tight container and use it as your regular scrub.

Skin Polishing Scrub

lemon juice

Take ½ a cup of coconut oil, ½ a cup of grounded coffee powder, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of orange essential oil and 10 drops of almond oil. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients until they blend well. Slightly dampen your skin and exfoliate your skin with the homemade coffee scrub. Starting from your feet, and work your way up towards your neck in a circular motion. Once you have thoroughly exfoliated your body, rinse it clean with cold water and pat dry.

Skin Energizing Scrub

coco powder

Take 2 tablespoons of coffee powder, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, 3 tablespoons of heavy cream and a pinch of turmeric. Using a fork, beat it all together into a gritty paste. Apply the scrub to slightly moist skin, scrub in a circular motion, rinse and pat dry.

De-tanning Body Scrub

sea salt

Take a tablespoon of coffee powder, an equal quantity of salt and the required amount of olive oil. For a soothing fragrance, add 5 to 8 drops of lavender oil. Once the ingredients have incorporated well, massage it on to your wet skin and scrub in a circular motion. Let the homemade coffee scrub sit for 5 minutes and then rinse it out with water. Follow it up with a nourishing body lotion.

Dry Brushing
