Paneer Matar: With Goodness Of Homemade Paneer

Paneer Matar recipe is a north Indian dish which can be prepared really fast. This simple recipe is made by mixing peas and paneer in a pan, along with tomatoes. The softness of paneer and peas, along with the tanginess of tomatoes is an excellent combination for a real treat.
So, lets start with the ingredients of the recipe:
Ingredients
- Milk - 1 litre
- Lime -1
- Tomatoes-3 (big)
- Onions-2 (big)
- Shelled Green Peas -1 cup
- Green Chillies-3 (chopped)
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 tbsp
- Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Coriander leaves- to garnish
Procedure
- Boil milk in a vessel, and when it reaches the boiling point, squeeze lime into it.
- Once the milk curdles, keep it aside for 10 minutes.
- Drain the whey and keep the cottage cheese/soft paneer derived from it for cooking.
- Chop the onions and tomatoes, and keep them aside.
- Meanwhile, heat the oil in a pan.
- Add cumin seeds, finely chopped green chillies and onions into the pan and saute it for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the finely chopped tomatoes. Now, let the mixture cook well for 15- 20 minutes.
- Add salt and garam masala powder to this mixture.
- At the same time, boil the shelled peas and make sure that you add a pinch of salt while boiling. Drain the green peas when its done.
- Add the cooked peas to the mixture in the pan.
- Now crumble the paneer to the mixture and simmer the flame for a minute.
- Remove the mixture from heat, and transfer it to a serving dish.
- Garnish this Paneer Matar gravy with coriander leaves.
This simple paneer matar recipe is a must try and this dish can be eaten with naan or other Indian breads.
#Nutritional Value
Unlike the other regular paneer and matar dishes, this simple paneer matar dish has no butter or cream added to it. Also, there is very less oil added to it. Hence, this Paneer Matar dish is healthier and refreshingly tasty.
