Utthita Trikonasana: Extended Triangle Pose
Utthita Trikonasana when assumed, looks like an extended triangle and hence the name.
Step 1: Spread your feet, 31/2 to 4 ft apart. Spread your arms to the sides and keep them parallel to the ground at your shoulder level. Palms should face down.
Step 2: Turn your right foot outward at 90 degrees and left foot inward to make an angle of 6o degrees.
Step 3: Exhale, extend your upper body and bend to your right. Place your right palm on the ground outside your right foot. Alternatively you can place your right palm on the ground outside the right knee or hold your right ankle or right shin, whichever is comfortable.
Step 4: Stretch your left arm towards the ceiling, with finger pointing upward. Hold the pose for 10-30 seconds and breathe normally. Repeat on the other side
