Supta Padangusthasana
Of the word Supta Padangusthasana, the word 'Supta' would mean 'reclining' 'Pada' would mean 'leg', 'Angushtha' would mean 'thumb' and 'Asana', 'posture'.
1.Lie down on your back with the legs outstretched. A folded blanket could be used for the head.
2.Bring both the knees close to your chest
3.Place a yoga strap around your right foot and lift it up to 90 degrees holding the ends of the strap with each hands.
4.Bend the left leg at the knee and stretch it.
5.Straighten the right leg upwards with the foot flexed. But have the ball of the hip joint intact in the socket with the sides of the buttock pressing on the floor.
6.Have the left leg pressed on to the floor but the left foot flexed.
7.Remain in this position for about five to ten breaths
8.To come back to the normal posture, slowly bend the right leg towards the chest and remove the strap and bend the both the knees. Stretch the legs and relax
9.Repeat it for the left leg.
