By relieving people of their devastating hunger,One lays by valuable possessions as investment

The investment referred to obviously relates to heavenly reward.

This is in line with the Christian teaching on the subject:

'Verily I say unto you; in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least among my
brethren, ye have done it unto me'.

(Matt. 25:40)

Hence the reward on Judgment day.

The idea that God could be reached by serving his people on earth is common to most religions. Mother Teresa of the Sisters of Charity would like to call anything like this done to the poor as 'something beautiful for God'.

The phrase 'Azipasi' (i.e.), the hunger that is destructive of all good qualities, reminds one of Avvayar's poem:

Maanam kulam kalvi vannmai arivudaimai
Dhaanam thavam muyarchi thaalaanmai-Thaenin
Kasivandha solliyar maer kaamurudhal paththum
Pasi vandhidapoam parandhu
