Can God Change His Laws?

Once Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Mathur Babu, a devotee were engaged in a conversation about God. In the due course of the conversation, Mathur Babu said that God Himself will have to observe His own laws. He further added that the almighty himself lacked the power to transcend the laws. Sri Ramakrishna disregarded Mathur's views as absurd and said that the laws were at His disposition. He could repel them at His will or make a new one in its place. Mathur Babu however stuck to his own conviction and said that it was as impossible as a white flower to bloom in a plant bearing red flowers. The master maintained His regard and retorted that nothing was impossible for His limitless power.
The very next day turned out to authenticate the master's words. While strolling in the temple garden, Sri Ramakrishna came upon a red chine rose plant. The plant strangely bore two flowers on the same stalk. One was red and the other a speckless white! Sri Ramakrishna broke the stalk of the plant and showed it to Mathur who was visibly astonished. He succumbed to the Master's opinion and exclaimed humbly that he would never again get into an argument with Sri Ramakrishna.
The limitless potency of the Lord revealed in all its glory.
