This year in 2023, there is a surge of 10 lakh devotees during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha. No matter how hot or humid it is, devotees wait for hours to glimpse their favourite deity Lord Jagannath and his siblings sister Subhadra and brother Balabhadra.

The ritual of the chariot pulling or touching the rope is an essential part of the event when the grand procession begins. Among the chariot pullers were chief minister Naveen Patnaik and dignitaries, including Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Justice of Orissa high court S Muralidhar and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Rath Yatra is organised every year at the famous Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha this day is based on the Hindu Lunar Calendar and is observed on Dwitiya Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Ashada month, which means it is either in June or July.

Ratha Yatra has already begun on 20 June 2023. The Dwitiya Tithi begins at 11:25 am on 19 June 2023 and Dwitiya Tithi ends at 01:07 pm on 20 June 2023. Lord Jagannath will be taken out for the Ratha yatra on Tuesday, 20 June 2023 and this procession will start at 10.04 pm on this day. It will end on Saturday, 01 July 2023.

For each day, there is a special ritual that is practised throughout the festival. On 27 June 2023, there will be another ritual that will take place and it is known as Sandhya Darshan.

Sandhya Darshan is a ritual that means that this is the evening visit to the Trinity and the last chance to seek the blessings of the divine sibling deities in Shri Gundicha Temple. A day before Trinity's 'Bahuda Jatra', which means the return chariot festival, thousands of devotees Friday had 'Sandhya Darshan' of the Trinity on Adapa Mandap in Shree Gundicha Temple.

Sandhya Darshan or the evening visit to the Trinity on Asadha Nabami is the last chance to seek blessings of the divine sibling deities in Shri Gundicha Temple. This ritual is considered highly auspicious and helps a person wash all sins. However, recently, the timings of Sandhya Darshan have been restricted to 4 pm instead of 7 pm by the temple administration. All the rituals are also completed ahead of the return of the chariot.

On this day, the 'Charamala' through which the idols of deities will be alighted from the 'Adapa Mandap' for 'Pahandi Bije' (procession) will be tied up to the door in the evening.
