Types Of Navratri Celebrated Across India
One of the greatest festivals in India is Navratri. Among the long list of festivals which is celebrated in India, this is a main festival which attracts a huge gathering of people from all over the world. The meaning of Navratri literally means 'nine nights'. The festival lasts for nine days and each day has a deep religious significance to it.
Navratri is a nine day long festival which is celebrated to venerate the Goddess of power- Shakti. Each day, a different form of the Goddess is worshipped. On the occasion of Navratri, it is said that the strong and powerful virtues acquired through worshipping the Goddess is essential to fight against all evil.

It is said that in the ancient times, there were a lot of traditions and types which was followed on the occasion of Navratri. All across India, the types of Navratri were observed and till today people follow these types of Navratri too. Amongst all of these traditions of Navratri, the biggest tradition is fasting for the whole of the nine days. Apart from this, the other traditions of Navratri is the sowing of seeds, the reverence of the nine planets and lastly celebrating Mahanavami and Vijayadashami.
The festival of Navratri sees all kinds of traditions which is celebrated all through the nine days. However, let us take a look at some of the types of Navratri which is celebrated all over India.
Sharada Navaratri
One of the most important type of Navratri is the Sharada Navaratri. It is celebrated widely in the East part of India where the slaying of Mahishasura by Durga is witnessed. In some places in India, Sharada Navaratri is also known as Maha Navaratri. Sharada Navratri is especially significant because Lord Rama performed this puja before He went to Lanka to search for His wife Sita.
Vasant Navaratri
This is the second most important type of Navratri. The Vasant Navratri is celebrated widely in the North part of India where the famousVaishno Devi temple in Jammu observes the Navaratri in grandeur. This festival is also called as Chaitra Navratri.
Ashaada Navratri
In some parts of India, this type of Navratri is also called as Guhya Navratri. The Ashaada Navratri is celebrated in dedication to the nine forms of Goddess Shakti.
Paush Navaratri
This is yet another form of Navratri which is observed during the Paush Shukla Paksha which is none other than the waxing phase of moon.
These are some of the type of Navratri which is celebrated all over India. From all these types of Navratri, the Sharada and Vasant is the most important.
