Ram Navami is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm throughout the country. This festival is a grand celebration in the Northern sides of India, especially in Ayodhya and allied areas where Lord Ram is said to be born according to the scriptures.

The festival of Ram Navami is marked with continuous recitals of the Ramcharit Manas by Tulsidas. Apart from that bhajans, kirtans and processions also form a major part of the festival. Take a look at the observance and significance of Ram Navami.
WHY IS VASANT NAVRATRI CELEBRATED?
Observance Of Ram Navami
The day begins by offering prayers to the rising Sun. Sun is the symbol of power and it is believed that the Sun is the ancestor of Lord Ram. Few people observe fast throughout the day to seek the blessings of Lord Ram. They spend the whole day, chanting verses from the Ramcharit Manas and singing hymns in the praise of Lord Ram. The fast is broken only after the sunset.
Processions
Chariot processions are an integral part of this festival. The idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Hanuman and Lakshman are placed in well decorated chariots and a huge procession is taken out through the streets. It is to remind people about the peaceful days of Lord Ram's reign on the Earth.
Significance Of Ram Navami
In the Northern parts of India, people observe Ram Navami as the birthday of Lord Ram. However in the South, people observe this day as the wedding anniversary of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. They celebrate the divine bond of the celestial couple.
Whatever be the reason of celebration, Ram Navami is significant for celebration of the virtues of Lord Ram. The celebration takes place to ensure the destruction of evil and negativities from the world. Fasting on this day helps to cleanse one from all the vices and purifies the soul from within.
Hence, the celebration of Ram Navami is to propagate the message that every human being should cultivate the qualities of Lord Ram in himself/herself. One must thrive towards becoming the ideal human being like the Lord Himself.
