What Is Dashavatara Vrat?
The vrat is dedicated to the Dashavatara, the ten principal incarnations of Lord Vishnu. A commonly followed list includes Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki. However, traditions differ, and some lists include Balarama instead of Buddha.
The ten forms represent different manifestations of Vishnu in Hindu tradition, with Kalki regarded as the future incarnation. Dashavatara Vrat therefore brings the worship of these forms together rather than commemorating the birth of one particular avatar.
How Is Dashavatara Vrat Observed?
