What Is The History Of Ayodhya Ram Mandir?
According to the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, Lord Rama is believed to be born in Ayodhya. But, according to reports, in the 16th century, the Mughals constructed a mosque, the Babri Masjid that is believed to be the site of the Ram Janmabhoomi, the birthplace of Rama.
However, the site was demolished by Hindu nationalists in 1992 by Hindu nationalists, and it triggered communal tension and widespread violence. This issue continued for decades because of the ownership of the site. In 2019, the dispute was settled by Indian Supreme Court and it ruled in favour of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple on the site. The construction of the temple was undertaken by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, which is a trust formed by the Indian government to oversee the construction of the temple.
