Akshaya Tritiya 2024: Why There Is No Shubh Muhurat For Wedding On This Auspicious Day
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is a highly auspicious and sacred day in the Hindu calendar. Celebrated on the third day of the bright half of the Hindu lunar month of Vaishakha, typically falling in April or May, Akshaya Tritiya holds immense significance in Hindu culture and traditions.

Akshaya Tritiya 2024: Date, Time
Akshaya Tritiya Puja Muhurat is from 05:33 am to 12:18 pm. The duration is 06 Hours 44 Mins. Tritiya Tithi begins at 04:17 am on 10 May 2024 and Tritiya Tithi ends at 02:50 am on 11 May 2024.
Why There Is No Shubh Muhurat For Wedding On Akshaya Tritiya
This year, Akshaya Tritiya will be celebrated on 10 May 2024. Known for its good fortune, this day is typically marked by buying gold, starting new ventures, and wedding ceremonies. However, this year there is an unusual situation that has not been seen in the past 23 years. This year, there will be no auspicious dates for weddings due to the specific positions of Venus and Jupiter.
People engage in various auspicious activities, including weddings and the purchasing of jewelry. But this year, the celestial setting of Jupiter and Venus on May 10 takes away the day's usual favorability for marriage ceremonies.
Marriage dates are not present on this day due to the position of Jupiter and Venus in the sky which play a big role. Venus, which signifies luxury and marital bliss, along with Jupiter, the planet of happiness and prosperity for the bride, are both setting on this day. Their rising is typically a sign of good omens, especially for tying the knot. But on this Akshaya Tritiya, they are not in a position to bless marital unions.
However, in July there will be auspicious dates for marriage- 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Post these dates, Chaturmas begins on July 17 and it will last until November 12. It's a period when grand ceremonies like weddings and housewarmings are usually put on hold, resuming only after this time considered inauspicious for such events.
