3. Mosquito-borne illnesses: Mosquitoes can carry diseases such as Zika, West Nile Virus, and Chikungunya, which can be dangerous to pregnant women. To protect yourself, use insect repellent and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants when outdoors [5].
4. UV radiation: Too much exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause skin damage, which is especially dangerous for pregnant women. To protect your skin, use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 and wear a hat and sunglasses when outside.
5. Allergies: Pregnant women can be especially vulnerable to seasonal allergies during the summer months. To reduce your risk, stay indoors on days when the pollen count is high and keep windows closed. If necessary, talk to your doctor about taking an antihistamine to reduce your symptoms [6].
