Celebrate Janmashtami With Your Baby
Janmashtami is not just a festival for fasting or praying to Lord Krishna. It is a day, when you decorate your house, temple, Krishna idol and the small baby of your house. If you have a small baby in your house then, you can celebrate this auspicious day with him. Lets check out some unique ways to celebrate Janmashtami with your baby.
Ideas to celebrate Janmashtami with your baby:
Dress him up: To bring in the essence of Janmashtami, dress your little baby like Bal Gopal (Little Krishna). Dress your little baby in a traditional kurta pyjama. Put a turban and do not forget to apply a tikka with roli (vermilion). The new ethnic look of your small child would be graceful to the eyes. Do not forget to capture pictures of this look.

Swing: Why not celebrate Janmashtami by swinging with your baby. If your baby is comfortable in the traditional kurta pyjama, go and swing with your baby. If you have a swing at home, decorate it with flowers and lights. The joy of swinging with the bal golpala would be overwhelming. You should also dress up in traditional wear. This would add a zing to the festive mood and celebrations.
Give a flute: The idol of Lord Krishna or bal gopala always has a flute in his hands. Lord Krishna is known by this instrument. Your small baby can't play the flute but can use it as a toy. Just give him/her flute and celebrate Janmashtami in this unique way. You play the flute at times to catch your baby's attention. The baby will also be excited to play with a musical instrument.
Dahi Handi as a toy: Bal gopala idols or pictures will always have a small dahi handi. In Krishna's childhood stories, it has been scripted that gopala used to love makhan (butter) and used to hunt for it in dahi handis. To bring in the essence of Janmashtami celebrations in the house, place a dahi handi in the living room. Let it become a toy for your baby. The joy of seeing your little gopala dressed like Krishna and playing with dahi handi is a treat to the eyes. Make sure the baby is safe while playing with the dahi handi. Use a plastic dahi handi to be on the safer side. Decorate the handi to make it look attractive.
