Pandal Hopping In Bengaluru 2026: 7 Durga Puja Venues Worth Your Time

A mother's anchal is the idea at the heart of one of the biggest Durga Puja pandals in Bengaluru this year. At BARSHA in Electronic City, the 2026 theme, ANCHAL, pays tribute to Bengal and Karnataka as two motherlands that have sheltered the city's Bengalis, with a Durga idol handcrafted by an award-winning artisan from Kumartuli, Kolkata.

It is one of dozens of celebrations opening across the city from Friday, 16 October. Some are vast grounds with stages, rides and food stalls. Others are tucked into community halls and apartment complexes. This guide picks seven worth planning around, with where they are, what is special, and when to go if you would rather skip the crush.

The Dates To Mark

Most major pujas in Bengaluru run from 16 to 21 October. Maha Ashtami falls on 19 October and Maha Navami on 20 October, with Vijaya Dashami on 21 October. Individual opening days and hours vary by committee, so check each organiser's page before you set out.

BARSHA: The Big One, Now In Electronic City

  • Where: South Avenue Grounds, behind Electronic City Metro Station, with entry from the NICE Road toll junction, Konappana Agrahara.
  • When: 16 October, 8 am, to 21 October, 12.30 pm.
  • What is special: The ANCHAL theme, a Kumartuli-crafted idol and an open-ground setting that the organisers describe as a true "Maather Pujo". BARSHA says it usually has daily bhog and pujas from 8 am, with celebrity artists performing on various days. This is its 11th year and a new venue.
  • Crowd: Heavy. The organisers have put daily footfall at 40,000 to 50,000 in the past.

Oikotan Hebbal: Egypt Comes To North Bengaluru

If one pandal is known for treating a theme like a film set, it is Oikotan. Its past sets have included a Mayurpankhi boat, Channapatna toys from Karnataka, the Bishnupur terracotta temple and the golden fortress of Sonar Kella. In 2022 it recreated the Jorasanko Thakur Bari, with Kolkata artists shaping the decor, and last year's theme was the Bhagavad Gita. This year the theme is Egypt.

  • Where: EBISU Convention Center, Hegde Nagar Main Road, Jakkur Post, opposite Regal Hospital, Balaji Layout, Chokkanahalli. This is a new venue. Last year the puja was held adjoining Green Country Public School on Airport Road, Hebbal, so older directories and maps will point to the wrong place.
  • When: 16 to 21 October
  • What is special: Oikotan began in 2013 and has won several "Sharad Samman" awards, including Best Theme Pandal, Best Idol and Best Decoration. Singer Rahul Dutta performs on Maha Ashtami night, 19 October, and Lopamudra Mitra on Maha Navami night, 20 October.
  • Crowd: Expect heavy footfall on both performance nights.

Palace Grounds: Two Pandals, One Visit

Two of Bengaluru's biggest community pujas sit side by side on Bellary Road, one at Gate 6 and one at Gate 9. Plan them as a single trip, because the walk between them is short and the pandals could not be more different in scale.

Bengaluru Durga Puja Committee (BDPC), Gate 6

  • Where: The Grand Castle, Palace Grounds, Gate No. 6, Bellary Road, near Mekhri Circle.
  • When: 16 to 21 October. [DAILY TIMINGS TO CONFIRM]
  • What is special: BDPC is a community of Bengali families in the city that has held its Durgotsav since 2019. This year it has moved to a new venue at Grand Castle, which the organisers describe as spacious, with ample parking, a tiled food court, gardens and lawns. Bhog and a cultural programme are on offer.
  • Crowd: Heavy. The committee says its festivities, food and music draw large crowds.

RT Nagar Socio Cultural Trust, Gate 9

  • Where: Gate 9, Palace Grounds (Princess Green), Bellary Road.
  • When: 15 to 21 October 2026.
  • What is special: The trust, set up in 2006, has brought both its idol and its theme from Kolkata this year. The venue covers more than 1,00,000 sq ft, with 40 brand stalls, a free community lunch for over 7,000 devotees and performances by renowned artists on four days. [THEME NAME TO CONFIRM]
  • Crowd: Very heavy. The organisers expect more than 2.5 lakh visitors over the six days.

Whitefield Cultural Association: A Festival With A Fair

Most pujas in this guide are pandals with food stalls attached. WCA's is closer to a small festival, because the huge ground hosts a fair beside the puja pandal and it is one of the most famous Durga Pujas in Bangalore. The fair, with its food stalls, rides and toy sellers, is what makes it a good option for families and for readers who want more than darshan and bhog.

  • Where: Behind Mahaveer Tranquil, Palm Meadows, Nallurhalli, Whitefield.
  • What is special: The 2026 theme is Sun Chariot, and the huge ground hosts a fair beside the pandal, with food stalls, rides and toy sellers. It is the association's 24th year.
  • Crowd: Heavy on weekends and evenings, going by the size of the fair.

The Bengalee Association, Ulsoor: A Puja With History

  • Where: 1/A, Assaye Road, Shivan Chetty Garden Post, Ulsoor. The nearest metro station is Halasuru on the Purple Line, about 2 km away.
  • When: 16 to 21 October
  • What is special: It is described as one of the oldest cultural associations in Bengaluru hosting Durga Puja. Its official website records recognition for 75 years of puja. A past guide described a large food court, a shopping bazaar and cultural programmes on all days, with bhog daily from Maha Saptami at noon. That was a previous year, so ask the association whether the same applies in 2026.

EISHA, HSR Layout: Jamini Roy, Chhau And Pets

  • Where: HSR BDA Complex, 12th Main Road, Sector 6, HSR Layout.
  • When: 16 to 21 October. A Chhau performance is scheduled for 19 October from 7 pm.
  • What is special: The East Indian Social HSR Association (EISHA) is marking the 11th year of its puja, with a theme inspired by the art of Jamini Roy. Roy is the Bengali painter known for bold, folk-influenced lines. A Chhau performance is scheduled for 19 October from 7 pm. Chhau is a masked dance from eastern India. This is also one of the few pujas on the list described as pet-friendly.
  • Crowd: The Chhau evening on 19 October, a Monday, is likely to be the busiest, so go earlier in the day if you want space.

JBCA, KR Puram: All-Women Dhakis By The Hanging Bridge

The Jagriti Bangiyo Cultural Association began as a project of Bengali families in the RM Nagar and TC Palya areas. They wanted to bring the essence of Kolkata to Bengaluru, and each year they put up the pandal at the ITI Hockey Ground beside the KR Puram Hanging Bridge.

  • Where: ITI Ground, beside the Hanging Bridge, KR Puram.
  • When: 16 to 21 October.
  • What is special: The main attraction this year is a team of all-women dhakis, with food stalls, rides and shops, and a new pandal and idol every year.
  • Crowd: One listing calls it one of the biggest Durga Puja celebrations in Bengaluru. That is an opinion rather than a count, and no figure is published.

Beating The Crowd

Timing matters more than the pandal. The organisers themselves drive the biggest numbers. RT Nagar expects over 2.5 lakh visitors across six days, or roughly 42,000 a day on average. BARSHA has its usual daily footfall at 40,000 to 50,000. The two are in the same league, so there is no clear single winner for "most crowded". Both are very busy.

At Koramangala's big pujas, Ashtami and Navami evenings can make crowds, traffic, and parking a real challenge, and one organiser advises arriving before evening. The same logic applies to Palace Grounds and Electronic City. If you would rather avoid the crush, go in the morning or early afternoon, or choose Saptami (18 October) over Ashtami (19 October).
