Watch: Thalapathy Vijay Briefly Falls at Chennai Airport as Fans Mob Him
Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Thalapathy Vijay had a minor fall at Chennai airport on Sunday while leaving the terminal, after a large crowd of supporters gathered to welcome him.

The incident occurred as Vijay attempted to enter his car, with security personnel quickly stepping in to assist him.
The moment, captured on video, has since circulated widely on social media. Vijay was returning to Chennai from Malaysia, where he had attended a major public event linked to his film and political outreach.
Security steps in after crowd surge at airport
Visuals from the airport showed hundreds of fans lining the arrival area to catch a glimpse of Vijay. As he moved towards the parking zone, people pushed forward, narrowing the space around him. Just before getting into his vehicle, Vijay lost his footing and briefly fell.
His security team immediately lifted him and guided him into the car, ensuring he left the airport safely. No injuries were reported, and the convoy departed shortly after the incident.
Return from Malaysia after record-breaking event
Vijay had been in Malaysia for the audio launch of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. The programme reportedly drew nearly one lakh attendees and entered the Malaysian Book of Records for recording the largest audience at an audio launch event.
Malaysia is known to have one of the largest Tamil populations globally after Sri Lanka, which contributed to the scale of the turnout. Videos from the event showed packed venues and enthusiastic crowds.
Vijay explains decision to quit cinema
At the audio launch, Vijay spoke about his decision to step away from films and focus on public life, directly addressing his supporters.
"When I entered the cinema, I thought I was building a small sand house here. But you all have built me a palace. Fans helped me build a fort... That's why I've decided to stand for them. For the fans who gave up everything for me, I'm giving up cinema itself," he said.
The word 'kottai' used by Vijay refers to both a stronghold and Fort St. George in Chennai, which houses the Tamil Nadu Assembly and the chief minister's office.
Electoral plans and political positioning
Vijay has announced that he will contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections next year from Madurai East. He has framed the political contest as one between the ruling DMK and his party, while projecting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam as an alternative force distinct from both the DMK and the AIADMK.
In recent months, Vijay has intensified his political outreach, blending mass public events with messaging aimed at positioning TVK as a new option in state politics.
