Myths have always bound us with awe and surprise, and made us wonder if they are really believable or not. As a child, you must have heard about some myth or the other that sent chills down your spine. Be it monster myths, hero myths or vampire myths, these are told and shared in almost every part of the world.

With time, some of the most interesting myths have faded away from our history as well as our minds, but still, there are many that continue to surprise us. Many of the myths are based on ancient and urban legends that are not only scary but filled with unbelievable magic that question human intelligence and wisdom. So, what is your opinion on myths?

Irish Vampire Fairy
Vampires are no fairies, yet they make interesting mythical subjects. As per an Irish myth, there was a fairy known by the name ‘Leanhaum-sidhe' is luring men to their doom. With her spell bounding beauty, the vampire fairy has the power to charm any man and drain his life out.

The Murder of Orisis
This is probably one of the most influential myths from the Egyptian era. God Orisis - the King of Egypt - was murdered by his brother, Set. Isis, wife of the king, conceives a son by restoring her husband's body, who restores peace to his kingdom by triumphing over Set.

Pandora's Box
This is probably one of the most interesting myths ever heard. Pandora is well known to have opened the box of suffering and pain upon the world. But little does anyone know, she also let hope out of the box.

The Sliced Ear of Van Gogh sliced
Though this is not based on mythology, it is still one of the interesting myths. Van Gogh, the well-known starving artist is believed to have sliced off his own ear before committing suicide. He sold only one painting in his entire life. But the truth is that he sliced only a part of his ear lobe.

The Burning of the Witches in Salem
During the 1690s in Salem, it was believed that around 31 witches were executed, of which 6 were male. About 150 people were arrested in the trails based on ignorance and misconceptions. Though true or not, 20 people were executed as a result of those trials.

Newton's Apple
It is believed that an apple fell on Newton's head, that led him discover the law of gravity. But, truth to be told, it may not be the real thing, but surely one of the interesting myths. Voltaire has described this incident in one of his essays after Newton passed away. And, the story was told by only Catherine, Niece of Newton.

There are myths that date back to almost centuries and there are myths that are born even today. But, the one thing that binds all of them is excitement and surprise, packed with your enthusiasm to know about them.
