Govinda Slams Wife Sunita For Cheapening Words Like Mother And Sister
Govinda has a message for his wife of nearly four decades, and this time, he chose to deliver it on camera. In a video shared amid renewed attention on his marriage, the actor addressed Sunita Ahuja directly, asking her to stop what he called a growing habit of abusive language, particularly words aimed at mothers and sisters.
The remarks land at a sensitive moment for the couple. Sunita has spoken candidly in recent months about the state of their marriage, Govinda's alleged affairs, and, most recently, his association with actor Komal ahead of their upcoming film Roopa. This latest video marks a rare instance of Govinda responding publicly, and pointedly, to his wife's conduct rather than to questions about their relationship.
"You Have Started Using A Lot Of Abusive Language"
In the video, Govinda told Sunita that she had been leaning on abuses involving mother and sister figures more than before, and asked her to stop the pattern.
"Sunita ji, you have started using a lot of abusive language, especially on mother and sister," Govinda said, adding that this "is not expected" from her.
His concern, as he framed it, went beyond the couple's private conduct. Govinda argued that public figures shape how younger audiences speak and behave, and that Sunita's language risked normalising something he considers disrespectful. He pointed out that repeated, casual abuse involving mothers and sisters ends up cheapening those very relationships, reducing them to what he called "sasta", or cheap, in Hindi. If the habit catches on among people who follow her, he warned, it would leave the whole family embarrassed.
A Marriage Already Under The Microscope
The video does not exist in isolation. Sunita, who briefly appeared on the reality show Lock Upp Season 2 before exiting for health reasons, was seen using blunt, unfiltered language while discussing topics connected to Govinda with her fellow contestants. That stint had already drawn criticism online for her choice of words.
Sunita has previously defended herself against similar backlash, arguing that staying religious does not mean staying silent when disrespected, and that reacting to provocation in kind is a fair response rather than a fault. She has not been shy about extending that bluntness to Govinda's professional life either, recently taking a dig at him over his working relationship with Komal and questioning his involvement in promoting their film together.
The couple's relationship has been the subject of persistent speculation this year, with reports of a separation notice and conflicting statements from their respective camps. Even so, both have periodically appeared together at family events, and representatives close to the actor have maintained that the two are working through their differences rather than heading for a formal split.
Bottomline
Govinda's video is less a plea for privacy and more a public appeal for restraint, aimed squarely at how Sunita chooses to express her frustration. Whether or not it changes the tone of their exchanges, it adds another layer to a marriage that has spent much of this year playing out in front of cameras rather than behind closed doors. For now, neither Govinda nor Sunita has indicated that the underlying tension between them is anywhere close to resolved.
