Sunita Ahuja Exits Lock Upp 2 Over Uncontrolled Diabetes And Menopause Anxiety
Sunita Ahuja walked into Lock Upp 2 as one of its loudest, most talked-about contestants. She walked out of it clutching her chest, struggling to breathe, and asking to go home.
The wife of actor Govinda has voluntarily exited Netflix's reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, citing a combination of uncontrolled diabetes, menopause-related anxiety and physical distress that made continuing on the show unsafe. Govinda arrived on set alongside their daughter Tina Ahuja to take her home, as hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh bid her farewell.
"My Diabetes Is Not Under Control"
Ahuja did not dress up her reasons for leaving. Explaining her decision on stage, she said, "My health is not good, and my diabetes is not under control."
She added that she had been going through menopause, which was fuelling her anxiety, and that she had been experiencing chest pain and breathlessness inside the house - symptoms severe enough that she had been asking the makers to release her for some time before her exit was confirmed.
Ahuja later told IANS that the decision had nothing to do with her performance in the game. She insisted she still had more to give the show, but her body did not cooperate. "My diabetes had increased a lot, so I had to leave the game," she said, adding that she never felt the competition slipping away from her - health did that instead.
Inside The Jail, Doctors Kept Watch
Ahuja credited the show's production for managing her condition once her diabetes came to light. She said doctors on set checked her blood sugar three times a day, and that her meals were adjusted after her condition was flagged. Despite this support, her levels continued to climb, ultimately forcing the voluntary exit.
She also confirmed she has no plans to re-enter the show as a wild card, saying doctors had advised against it.
No Regrets, Despite The Early End
Away from the health scare, Ahuja described her time on the show warmly, calling it one of the best experiences of her life and saying she had built close bonds with her much younger co-contestants. She also used the moment to address rumours about her marriage, pointing to Govinda's arrival on set as proof that reports of a separation were untrue.
She exited the show alongside fellow contestant Riyaz Aly. Ahuja also used the appearance to confirm a new chapter ahead - her big-screen debut in September, in an Ekta Kapoor production where she will share the screen with her son, Yashvardan Ahuja.
