World Aids Day – Take A Pledge

On World Aids Day 2010, the reports say that 41 million people are affected with aids. According to statistics, India is doing even better than United States in Aids prevention programmes. On World Aids day 2010, it has been declared that Aids in India has come down to 1.2 lakhs victims as compared to 2.4 victims in 2001. Among all the Aids victims in India, 40% are women and 90% are men. This is a real achievement as reports of 2008 had revealed a shocking number of 2.7 million death due to Aids across the world.
World Aids day is practised in India with a red ribbon, which symbolises the disease and the pledge to eradicate it. The aim of this day is not only to spread awareness alone but also to provide free check ups. Aids victims are often discarded by the society and on Worlds Aids Day, through marches and campaigns, it is expressed that Aids victims need care and attention.
Most Aids victims get infected with the disease due to lack of awareness. Today, tie the red ribbon and contribute in spreading the message. Hiding the disease won't help someone live. It needs treatment, care, support and concern.
