Taslima Nasrin's Struggle Continues...
The controversial Bangaldeshi author, Taslima Nasrin, arrived in Jaipur amidst violent protests from All-India Minority Forum. Kolkata Police ushered her into Hotel Shikha, which is popular more with marriage groups. As soon Ms. Nasrin entered the hotel, its gates were closed.
The All-India Minority Forum activists started the protest against the author, demanding the cancellation of her visa. Ms. Nasrin's visa, which was renewed by the government of India in August, expires on February 17, 2008.
Taslima Nasrin is in the city to attend an unrevealed function. The expatriate Bangladeshi writer finds India as her home and happy to found love and sympathy from the real Indians. However she blamed the protesters by calling them 'hooligans" amidst the fundamentalists in Kolakata.
Taslima Nasrin was banned from her mother country for questioning the treatment of women in Islam. However Ms.Nasrin still asserts that she hadn"t written anything against the Islam religion, but about the plight of women in the society.
