Bangalore Flower Show 2007: A rendezvous of colours
The Garden City of India has something special to take pride at the dawn of 2007. The glass house of Lal Bagh became a rendezvous of flower colours from 19th January 2007 to 26th January 2007. The lush green paradise transformed into a dancing ground for flowers apart from ornamental vegetable plants and leafy plants. This year's Flower show is something special for the history of Lal Bagh, since it celebrates its 150th anniversary and attracted the record visitors among all its other Flower Shows.
Every year there is a flower display in the Glass House at Lal Bagh Gardens. This year's Flower Show has been conducted in relation with the Republic day Celebrations. The Flower Show 2007 was jointly organized by the Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticultural Society. The Flower Show inaugurated by Dilip Rau is the seventh Flower Show after the renovation of glass House in Lal Bagh. The increasing number of visitors on each day emphasizes the unbeaten glory of the Lal Bagh flowers.
The flower Show is ornamented with so many attractive factors. There are many stalls that sell those rare mighty fragrant flowers, plants and flower seeds to the garden lovers. The experts also give professional advise to the visitors about garden styles and planting. Apart from flower plants there is the exhibition of vegetable plants, leafy plants, and herbal plants. The flower arrangements and the ornamental plant decorations mesmerize the visitors for a long time. There were competitions in vegetable carving, Ikebana, bonsai, and flower arrangement, the result of which would be published on 26th January 2007. With regard to different competitions, the organisers had received 659 entries this year as against 450 of last years.
It is surprising that the prize we have to pay for this magical world of natural colours is very less. The tickets are prized at Rs.20 from January 19 to 25. On January 26th the prize would be increased to Rs.50 to control the uncontrollable crowd. However many school children could visit the dancing flowers for free during the morning session on January 24th 2007. Lal Bagh Flower show thus spreads the message of returning to the natural colours of life to the upcoming Indian minds also.
