Nana Patekar's death has left the Hindi and Marathi film industries mourning the loss of an actor whose commanding screen presence made him a familiar figure across both cinemas. The veteran actor died at the age of 75 on October 8, 2026, after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. He was taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him, but he could not be saved. A video from his last known public appearance in Goa has also resurfaced online following the news of his death.
Nana Patekar Passes Away At 75 After Cardiac Arrest
Nana Patekar was at his residence in Dona Paula when he reportedly suffered a severe cardiac arrest in the early hours of Thursday. He was subsequently taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors performed CPR for around 45 minutes, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
He was declared dead at around 5:20 am, according to hospital-related reports. A medico-legal case has been registered and a post-mortem examination is expected. While cardiac arrest has been reported in connection with his death, further medical details should be treated cautiously until the post-mortem findings are available. His son Malhar Patekar also confirmed his father's death, describing it as a natural death.

A Career Spanning Decades
Born Vishwanath Patekar, Nana Patekar built a career across Hindi and Marathi cinema, theatre and filmmaking. His performances in films including 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Prahaar: The Final Attack', 'Khamoshi: The Musical', 'Ab Tak Chhappan', 'Natsamrat' and 'Welcome' established him as an actor known for his intense screen presence and distinctive dialogue delivery. He was a three-time National Film Award winner and received the Padma Shri in 2013.
A Final Appearance That Has Drawn Attention
The Goa footage has taken on a different significance following Patekar's death. While the video itself shows him attending a public event only days before his passing, its circulation now offers audiences one of the last publicly recorded glimpses of the veteran actor.
Nana Patekar's contribution to Indian cinema extended well beyond individual performances. His work across languages and mediums made him one of the industry's recognisable and enduring performers, and his death marks the end of a significant chapter in Indian acting.
