This place is in Italy, where only 537 people now live in Sellia and most are over the age of 65 years. Lanjaron
People of this place in Spain are not allowed to die and there are around 4000 residents living here. Apparently, the law was more of a cheeky response to opponents who were looking for a quick-fix to the problem of unavailability of burial space. Hence, the government decided to make this a law!
Longyearbyen
This place is in the Svalbard Islands of Norway and it has a completely different reason to ban deaths in the area. The bodies there never decompose, as the area is all frozen. In fact, live samples of the virus of the Spanish influenza epidemic, which occurred in 1917, were taken from bodies buried there! Hence, the law was passed!
Falciano del Massico
This town in southern Italy had no space to bury their dead. The mayor had issued a statement which said, 'It is forbidden for residents to go beyond the boundaries of earthly life, to go into the afterlife'.
Sarpourenx
This scenic town of Sarpourenx in France imposed sanctions on those who dare to die in this town. The law was passed after a French court denied permission to expand the existing graveyard.
Biritiba-Mirim
The mayor of this town in Brazil passed a public bill, making it illegal for people to kick the bucket. This was due to the local cemetery being full and it left the authorities to impose desperate measures.
Le Lavandou
The mayor of Le Lavandou, France, was denied permission to build a cemetery by the sea, hence all he did was he passed a law barring people from dying here. Visitors dying there are sent to their home region or put in pigeon-holes holding urns.
Cugnaux
The mayor Philippe Guérin was trying to build a new cemetery on a vacant airfield, and apparently, there was unavailability of burial space in the town. When he wasn't given approval for the project, a law was passed by the mayor banning death.
