Most Populated States
Researches have revealed that Kashmir, Lakshwadeep island, Assam and Kerala comprise majority of the muslims in India. In over 110 minority-concentrated districts of India, at least one-fifth of the population are Muslims.
Higher Fertility Rate
When compared to other religions in the country, Islam has the highest fertility rate. Due to higher birth rate, the Muslim population has gone up from being 10% to 14.2% in the last few years. This is one of the reasons Indian Muslims have been outnumbered in other parts of the world in the name of population.
Descendants Of Immigrants
The vast majority of Indian Muslims are descendants of Arabs, Turks, Afgans and Mughals. They are widely scattered in different cities, towns and villages and are indistinguishable from the original inhabitants of India. Thus, making it hard to decide if they are outsiders or just plain Indians.
Second Largest Religion
Hinduism is widely followed in India and Islam comprises of 14.2% of the total population in India. On the world wide front, it comprises of 10% of the world's population and nearly about one-third the total Muslim minority population in the world.
Highest Number Of Mosques
Studies have revealed that India has over 300,000 active mosques, which is the highest number when compared to any other Muslim nation. The UAE has over 1418 and Bangladesh hosts close to 6,000 mosques. This is the most interesting fact about Indian Muslims.
