Ghost stories are famous and haunted places are well known too. But, how many ghosts can actually claim celebrity status? Not many. These ghosts are famous because they are the spirits of famous, people who were well known during their lifetime. Film stars, Presidents, artists usually constitute a restricted club of famous ghosts.
Here are some of the most famous ghosts that have been sighted in the world.

Ghosts Of Famous People:
The White House Ghosts: You may laugh it off as a crack-pot story, but if rumours are to be believed then the White House which is the Presidential abode of USA is one of the most haunted places in the world. The ghosts of many generations of ex-Presidents haunt this place. The most famous of these ghosts is President Abraham Lincoln as he suffered a violent and untimely death. President Harry Truman, first ladies Hillary Clinton and Jacqueline Kennedy have admitted feeling the presence of Lincoln's ghost. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill actually refused to stay in one of the bedrooms after sighting the Civil war President.
Headless Ghosts In Tower Of London: While White house is haunted by Presidents and first ladies, the Tower of London is haunted by criminals, courtiers and wronged kings and queens. The Tower of London was the place where criminals sentenced to death were executed. Their heads were chopped off and then decorated on stakes. The most famous inmate of this haunted place is queen Ann Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII (he had 6 wives and 2 were beheaded). Some say she carries her head in her hand and wades through the hallways endlessly.
Micheal Jackson: MJ moon walked his way into the alley of famous ghosts. He was hardly dead before thousands of fans claimed to see him during a live telecast on a popular news channel. Ever since there have been numerous sightings of Micheal Jackson's ghost who seems to follow in the foot steps of another famous musician, namely, John Lennon. John Lennon has been spotted all over the world by fans. I guess the ghosts of some artists remain in the hearts of their fans forever.
Jorashakho, Thakurbari: This sprawling palace was once Rabindranath Tagore's ancestral abode. Several members of the Tagore clan have had supernatural experiences in this house and they were published as book of ghost stories 'Thakurbarir Bhooter Golpo' (Ghost Stories from Thakurbari). Lanterns went out or lit up without explanation. In fact, there is a fabled family photo here that was clicked two years after Rabindranath Tagore's wife Mrinalini Devi passed away (1902). But she happened to appear in the photograph as a shadow behind her husband.
